Saturday's Britain's Got Talent live final saw Ashleigh and Pudsey the dog crowned the winners.

Only Boys Aloud came third, Jonathan and Charlotte came second and Ashleigh and Pudsey won.

The ten acts voted through from the week's five semi-final shows plus wild card The Mend all competed for the £500,000 prize and Royal Variety Show slot in Britain's Got Talent final.

It was quite the whirlwind night for The Mend, who opened the show moments after being announced as the judges' wild card choice.

They sang 'Without You' and both them and East 17 trended on Twitter. Gary Barlow tweeted to say he thought The Mend were great during the Britain's Got Talent final.

Sam Kelly made us drool and swoon with his rendition of Rascal Flatts' 'Bless the Broken Road'. He's one of our favourite Britain's Got Talent singers ever, and not just because he's gorgeous. Honest.

Ryan O'Shaughnessy returned to the song from his first audition 'No Name' about his unrequited love. Amanda Holden said Ryan had the edge over BGT rival Sam Kelly because he writes his own material. Kylie Minogue tweeted that she would buy Ryan O'Shaughnessy's song.

Nu Sxool got us wanting to reach into the TV screen and pinch their cute little cheeks.

The school kids dance troupe were called the best dancing group by the judges.

Singing Beyonce's version of 'Ave Maria', 11-year-old Molly Rainford showed maturity beyond her years as she gave a world class performance and reduced Amanda Holden to tears. One to watch.
Kai & Natalia danced to Bruno Mars' 'Runaway Baby' but stumbled over a few moves in the BGT grande finale as poor Natalia got injured and had been undergoing painful physio and injections.

Loveable Rogues performed another original song 'Honest'.
David Walliams said they looked like a band that would be fun to be part of, comparing them to the Beatles and Madness. Praise indeed.

Synchronised swimmers Aquabatique gave another breathtaking performance (literally in their case).

Only Boys Aloud brought out another traditional song 'Calon Lan' to the Britain's Got Talent judges' delight and impressed Simon Cowell so much he named them the best act of the night so far.
They made it into the top three, with only Ashleigh & Pudsey and Jonathan & Charlotte ahead.

Ashleigh & Pudsey gave an outstanding performance to the Mission Impossible theme and got millions of viewers wishing they had a dog like Pudsey. The judges said they were the ones to beat.

Jonathan & Charlotte were the last act to perform on the Britain's Got Talent live final and impressed the judges yet again with their rendition of 'The Prayer'.
They impressed the viewers too, coming second in BGT 2012.

Past winners Diversity took to the stage to show street dance troupes throughout the country just how it's done, and Susan Boyle belted out a Madonna tune like only SuBo can.
We were also treated to a surprise performance from David Walliams and The Show Bears singing 'It's Raining Men' in silver suits. Superb.

The night belonged to Ashleigh and Pudsey though, as the 2012 winners of Britain's Got Talent.
So the fun of variety is over… until next year. And the Royal Variety performance itself, of course.
