Selama bertahun-tahun mengabdi dan mengajar, Asnat Bell jauh dari pengangkatan menjadi seorang Guru PNS, kenapa? Karena kebijakan sekolah, seorang guru yang akan jadi PNS harus melanjutkan ke jenjang pendidikan keguruan, minimal D3, Asnat Bell hanya SMA. Pengorbanannya mengajar selama 10 tahun tidak berarti apa-apa, ternyata syarat menjadi PNS itu ijazah pendidikan keguruan.

Di desa Ini, banyak anak-anak yang putus sekolah, walau sekolah gratis, kemiskinan membuat anak-anak membantu ortunya bekerja daripada sekolah. Di sekolah ini ada 4 guru honor dan 3 PNS, tentu yang PNS adalah kepala sekolahnya, sejak teman-temannya mengundurkan diri, sekolah ini kosong Asnat bell tetap mengajar, walau gaji sangat tidak memadai, pengemis di Jakarta lebih besar penghasilanya dari pada gaji honor Asnat Bell.
